AFC Energy launches new 10kW hydrogen fuelled Power Tower.
The construction industry and other users of temporary power are coming under heavy pressure to reduce emissions, with this new product range aimed to help them decarbonise.
AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF, ETR:QC8) has launched its new 10 kilowatt (kW) hydrogen power generator unit, branded as the ‘Power Tower’, as an off-grid power solution designed to displace fossil-fuelled generators.
The Power Tower, which can achieve full power within 30 seconds from start-up, is already being taken up by Spanish conglomerate Acciona and construction engineer Keltbray for operational deployments in the coming months.
Users of temporary power, such as the construction industry, are coming under increasing pressure to reduce emissions, and AFC Energy said the new product range “will accelerate decarbonisation efforts” at a time when diesel pricing pressures are rising.
With a smaller footprint and simpler design than its L-Series platform, the 10kW Power Tower has one of the smallest footprints of any comparable air-cooled fuel cell technology operating in the market today, the company said, helped by built-in energy storage to support users’ peak operating loads.
AFC said the design of the Power Tower will enable it to be manufactured at high volumes when demand requires, with a robust supply chain established across all components and final assembly at the company’s Dunsfold Campus. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.
Comprised of four AFC’s air-cooled fuel cell stacks, with integrated battery storage, the Power Towers will initially use hydrogen as fuel but can easily be adapted to use methanol. For users with more power requirements, the units are designed to be easily combined in a modular system.
