Andalusia joins the Hydrogen Europe association to accelerate the development of this energy.
The Andalusian Government, through the Andalusian Energy Agency, has joined Hydrogen Europe , the main European organisation in the hydrogen sector, whose mission is to “accelerate its industrial development as a lever to generate employment and facilitate the energy transition towards a carbon-neutral economy”.
The Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela, explained that Hydrogen Europe is a “prestigious” European association that brings together companies in the sector, national hydrogen associations, non-governmental organisations, public entities and other organisations that support the development and promotion of clean hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
Jorge Paradela, said:
Being part of this organisation means that Andalusia can contribute its vision to the main European forums and decision-making centres.
This organisation is made up of 610 members from 40 countries and 45 regions, including seven Spanish regions, including Andalusia, which cover the entire value chain of the hydrogen ecosystem from production and distribution to end uses.
According to Paradela, participation in this European forum reinforces the work within the framework of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Alliance , a public-private collaboration promoted by the Junta in March 2023 to which more than 150 institutions, research centres, universities and companies in the energy sector are attached.
The Green Hydrogen Roadmap for Andalusia has been developed and implemented within the region, the strategy with which the autonomous community “aspires to be a benchmark in the development of this clean energy source in Spain,” the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines has highlighted.
Interaction with experts and access to information
In his opinion, being part of Hydrogen Europe will allow Andalusia to interact with experts and other government officials and private actors in the hydrogen sector, as well as facilitating the creation of interregional consortia for the preparation of collaboration proposals and the development of new projects.
Membership of this organisation will also facilitate access to relevant information and events in the sector and direct participation in the working groups that address hydrogen production and the infrastructure necessary to promote it.
The Board will also be able to learn about, among other issues, the impact on mobility, the training of professional profiles, the standardisation of markets, key legislation on sustainability and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and financing opportunities.
