Archigas honored as finalist with important German award, Among the top 3 in the “Innovation” category thanks to hydrogen sensors.

It’s done: Archigas landed on the podium of the “Hessen Champions 2023” as a finalist! More than 60 companies competed for the prestigious German award in three categories. The prizes were presented to the winner and the two co-finalists in the “Innovation” category, including Archigas, on October 31 in the state capital of Wiesbaden by Hesse’s Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir. “We are thrilled! A further and really nice confirmation of our research and development work,” said Archigas founders Illya Kaufman and Wladimir Barskyi at the festive event, which was also attended by Minister President Boris Rhein and other top politicians and business leaders from Hesse. Archigas GmbH made it into the top three in its category thanks to its new, unique semiconductor-based sensor technology for particularly fast, precise, reliable and cost-effective hydrogen measurement.

Since spring 2023, Archigas has been offering gas analyzers in various designs for H2 production through electrolysis, for incoming quality control and gas purity testing as well as for controlling and monitoring gas mixtures, among other things. The innovative hydrogen analyzers literally have it all: the sensors combine the company’s newly implemented thermal conductivity measuring principle with MEMS semiconductor technology. This leads to highly remarkable measuring properties, which include not only exceptionally fast response times, particular accuracy and reliable stability, but also the ability to detect H2 even in very humid environments, such as in the presence of condensate. This enables the design of extremely compact analysis systems and cost-effective mass production of identical products without the need for complex calibration.

According to scientific experts and industrial users, the sensor technology represents a “quantum leap” in H2 measurement due to its properties. The award as a finalist in the “Hessen Champions 2023” once again underlines the potential of the innovation.  “In the coming years of this competition, we would very much like to be at the top – preferably in the category of world market leader,” say the two Archigas founders with a wink. The “Hessen Champions” innovation and growth award from the Hessian Ministry of Economics, the VhU and the MittelstĂ€ndische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Hessen is organized by Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH (HTAI).

Archigas is highly specialised in microsensor technology (MEMS) and gas analysis. Since its foundation in 2020, the company has developed sensor solutions, particularly in the fields of thermal conductivity, pressure measurement and flow measurement. Archigas’s stated aim is to offer customers cost-effective plug and play solutions that reliably fulfil highly complex analysis tasks. Since 2022 the company has also been funded by the state of Hesse as part of its LOEWE programme (‘State Offensive for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence’). This is to support work on the development of measuring devices suitable for the exploration of natural hydrogen and helium deposits. Despite international bids from the USA and elsewhere, Archigas GmbH decided to establish its headquarters in the Rhein-Main region, in order to help bolster the state of Hesse, and therefore Germany as a whole, as a location for business.
