ATOME Energy reports progress with new hydrogen for transport division, AECOM to provide engineering consultancy services.
Chief executive Olivier Mussat said the appointment of AECOM was an “important step” but that “more substantive news” would follow.
ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM) said it has hired engineering consultants as it makes progress with procurement, funding and offtake agreements to enable it to begin green hydrogen operations next year.
The AIM-listed company, which is developing green hydrogen and ammonia production businesses in Iceland and Paraguay, told investors that US-based AECOM has been hired to “provide engineering consultancy services in respect of UK procurement of core equipment” for its newly created ATOME Mobility arm.
ATOME Mobility was formed last month to initially focus on supplying hydrogen energy to the road transport sector in Paraguay, with “significant progress” reported on procurement and non-equity funding in order to ensure the business begins operations before the end of the second quarter of 2023.
A number of potential customers have also been sought out, with the company saying it is “clear that the significant interest being shown in ATOME Mobility can be converted into concrete offtake arrangements”.
Chief executive Olivier Mussat said the appointment of AECOM was an “important step” but that “more substantive news” would follow.
Oliver Mussat added:
In the meantime, good progress on our major projects now totalling 350 MW in Iceland and Paraguay continues, with potential for more, and I look forward to updating the market on these in due course.
