BIOVIC and BayoTech Join Forces to Promote the Use of Green Hydrogen in Spain. After participating in the development, construction and operation of more than 40 biogas and biomethane projects throughout its 12-year history, Valencian company BIOVIC, which was recently acquired by FACSA, Grupo Gimeno, has taken a further step in its commitment to renewable energy by signing an agreement with BayoTech, a US energy technology company, to distribute its technology in Spain and jointly develop projects.
BIOVIC specializes in biogas, biomethane and green hydrogen plants, as well as in environmental consulting, waste recovery and renewable energies. The company is already carrying out multiple green hydrogen production projects in Spain centered around biogas and biomethane plants or produced on-site using biomethane through the natural gas network. When the biomethane is sourced from slurry or manure, the resulting hydrogen can even have a negative carbon footprint.
BayoTech is an energy technology company committed to addressing the global need for consistent, cost-effective, low-carbon supply of hydrogen. The company’s modular, scalable, and rapidly deployable hydrogen production systems require lower upfront capital commitments, streamlined siting and installation and, when paired with biomethane, offer the most cost-effective green hydrogen available today. The company recently received a capital investment of up to $ 157 million to accelerate its strategic growth and expansion of its infrastructure.

BIOVIC and BayoTech have agreed to pool their knowledge and experience around green hydrogen to promote synergies that support growth and mutual leadership in the renewable gas sector in Spain.
Luis Puchades, Director at BIOVIC:
We are very satisfied with this alliance, as it is very synergistic with our activity around biogas and biomethane
“In addition, green hydrogen has important advantages since it can be produced at its point of consumption (ports, supply points, refineries or fertilizer plants) at a very competitive cost and with a low or even negative carbon footprint if its raw material is biogas”.
BayoTech Vice President of Business Development, Scott Dyer:
Biogas and biomethane represent an important part of BayoTech’s sustainability strategy and critical pathway to decarbonization in hydrogen production
“BIOVIC brings a wealth of knowledge and experience around biogas, biomethane, and green hydrogen production projects in Spain. We are excited to partner with them and explore opportunities for green hydrogen production throughout the region”.
