Casale and The Hydrogen Utility – H2U, developer of green hydrogen infrastructure, to Collaborate on Building Green Ammonia Industry.
Casale announced the signing of an agreement with The Hydrogen Utility – H2U, leading Australian specialist developer of green hydrogen infrastructure for the green ammonia production facilities powered by renewable energy.
The Agreement cements the relationship between Casale and H2U to develop the engineering package along with the supply and potentially the construction of proprietary equipment for the production of green ammonia.
The first two pilot plants will be integrated into H2U’s Eyre Peninsula GatewayTM Demonstrator Project in South Australia and are the first of a series of green ammonia facilities that will be strategically developed by the partnership in Australia, with the ambitious goal of spreading this technology to different industrial segments and other countries.
Federico Zardi, Casale’s CEO:
The signing of this framework agreement lays the foundations for the development of various Green Ammonia projects that are integrated into the development strategy of Casale for the next years
Dr Attilio Pigneri, Founder and CEO of H2U commented
With their experience in the chemical plant engineering and construction, Casale is able to offer various integrated solutions for the production of sustainable ammonia, methanol, and other derivates.
“The development of production solutions that can integrate with a renewable energy supply is the only path to the future”.
“The world needs to turn the page and to fight climate change”, emphasizes Federico Zardi, ”in this context, Casale is ready to accept the challenge and to contribute to the development of sustainable plants for the production of ammonia and derivatives by reducing or even eliminating emissions”.
“Today marks an important milestone for our project as well as for an entire industry, as the Eyre Peninsula Gateway™ is the first green hydrogen and ammonia project of this scale globally to have transitioned into the implementation stages. We will now work with Casale and our key technology partners, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to finalize detailed design for the ammonia facility, with procurement and construction contracts to follow.” said Dr Pigneri.
“H2U is certainly the ideal partner with whom to start this journey”, continue Federico Zardi, “and we are sure that this will be a long lasting and fruitful collaboration”.
H2U has a portfolio of green ammonia projects with its H2-Hub GladstoneTM Project development also well underway. This will see the technology scaled to deliver world-class green ammonia plants that can be rolled out into multiple locations.
“With COP 26 underway in Glasgow, developing flexible technologies for integrating renewable energies into green hydrogen and green ammonia will deliver new exports and industries that drive further investments, economic growth and most importantly long term decarbonisation for generations to come.” said Dr. Pigneri.
