Chariot advances green hydrogen pilot project in Morocco.

Chariot Ltd (AIM:CHAR, OTC:OIGLF) told investors it has extended its partnerships in Morocco where it is now advancing a pilot project to build a green hydrogen operation.

The ‘proof of concept’ scale project will use a 1 megawatt polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser patented by Oort and will be hosted at a research and development facility run by the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).

It aims to support the growth of Morocco’s green hydrogen economy whilst evaluating the feasibility of large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production.

Chariot, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed new partnership agreements had been signed with Oort and UM6P for the project.

Laurent Coche, chief executive of the Chariot Green Hydrogen subsidiary, said:

This partnership pools key resources as we are looking to develop our knowledge and expertise in this sector for the benefit of all involved.

“This endeavour is another step forward in Chariot becoming a green hydrogen producer and will be of real value to our project developments in Morocco and Mauritania as we confirm electrolyser performances.”

Nick van Dijk, Oort chief executive, commented:

Testing the capacity of our electrolyser in an industrial setting is a crucial part of our development planning.

“The efficiency and durability of electrolysers will be integral in ensuring that green hydrogen can be produced economically and on a scalable basis.”

Mohamed Bousseta, director at UM6P, added:

The signing of these two agreements is key for UM6P, indeed the first one concerns the test of a new electrolyser technology with a better performance to be more competitive in green hydrogen production and second one concerns collaboration in education to prepare skilled people for the need of this new activity in green hydrogen and ammonia.
