CPH2, the UK-based green hydrogen technology and manufacturing company that has developed the IP-protected Membrane-Free Electrolyser (“MFE”), is pleased to announce that Level 2 of the Site Acceptance Test (“SAT”) for its MFE110 electrolyser at Northern Ireland Water’s site in Belfast has been successfully completed.

Following the successful Level 1 SAT announced in February, the Level 2 SAT verified the functionality of the MFE110 electrolyser and included end-to-end checks of control loops, electrical and mechanical plant, instrument calibration, and electrical installations in accordance with requirements. The test also included functional testing of Programmable Logic Control functions on the physical system to ensure correct operation in line with the specified parameters. The successful test was undertaken by Lagan MEICA Limited (“Lagan”), the Contractor to Northern Ireland Water, and was overseen by engineering design specialists, Arup.

Final commissioning of the MFE110 unit has now started with achievement of the final Level 3 SAT expected in Q2 2025, marking the first time CPH2’s scaled MFE technology is fully operational and functioning at a customer’s site.

Jon Duffy, CEO of CPH2 commented:

We are delighted by the progress made at Northern Ireland Water’s site as the MFE110 undergoes Site Acceptance Testing.

Following the successful Level 2 SAT test, the team is making significant strides toward achieving first production of hydrogen and oxygen on a customer’s site using MFE scaled technology. We look forward to the final stage of the process, culminating in what will be a proud moment for both the CPH2 and Northern Ireland Water teams.”
