Doosan Fuel Cell Partners with Samchully to Advance Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs)

Doosan Fuel Cell announced on April 3 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samchully to expand the adoption of domestically produced mid- and low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) for power generation.

Under this agreement, Samchully, which operates city gas and power businesses, will secure project sites and oversee business development across various regions. Doosan Fuel Cell will be responsible for promoting and supplying mid- and low-temperature SOFCs for power generation, investing in pilot projects, and managing hydrogen fuel cell power plant operations.

The mid- and low-temperature SOFC, which Doosan Fuel Cell plans to commercialize in the second half of this year, offers high power efficiency and operates at 620°C–200°C lower than existing commercial SOFCs–resulting in a relatively longer lifespan. Doosan Fuel Cell has established a 50MW mass production system at its Gunsan plant in the Saemangeum Industrial Complex and aims to launch commercialization within the year.

A Doosan Fuel Cell representative stated,

By collaborating with Samchully, which has extensive experience in power plant development, we plan to strengthen our ability to secure additional orders in the general hydrogen procurement market.

“With our track record of maintaining over a 60% share in annual general hydrogen procurement bids, we will enhance our competitiveness through stronger partnerships with power producers and by expanding our hydrogen fuel cell product lineup.”
