Doosan Fuel Cell Teams up with SK Energy on Hydrogen, Shifts US unit Head as new CEO

Doosan Fuel Cell Co. has teamed up with SK Energy Co. for collaboration in hydrogen energy business with an aim to shore up its capacity in the eco-friendly energy sector under new chief executive.

The fuel cell manufacturer under South Korea’s Doosan Group said it signed an agreement with SK Energy, a subsidiary of Korean refiner SK Innovation Co. for cooperation in hydrogen fuel cell technology development and business expansion.

Under the contract, Doosan Fuel Cell will focus on upgrading rechargeable fuel cell battery technology, while SK Energy will lead R&D project on 99.97-percent purity hydrogen refining technology for automotive use.

In addition, the two partners will collaborate on building green energy stations capable of generating power and offering fuel cell recharging service. They plan to start building their first green energy station as early as next year.

The two companies held their first meeting for technology exchange at Doosan Fuel Cell’s plant in Iksan, North Jeolla Province. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

Separately on Thursday, Doosan Fuel Cell appointed Jung Hyung-rak, chief executive officer of Doosan Fuel Cell America, as its new CEO. Jung previously served as chief strategy officer at Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
