Doosan Mobility Innovation unveils its hydrogen drone gas pipeline inspection solution at the World Gas Conference.

Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) showcased its hydrogen fuel cell capabilities as a leading company in Korea’s hydrogen economy.

DMI participated in the World Gas Conference (2022 WGC) which was held at EXCO in Daegu from May 23 to 27.

WGC is one of the world’s three largest international events for the gas industry where global energy companies participate in discussing issues such as energy conversion and security. This year, 460 companies from 90 countries will participate, and 150 of them will set up booths in the exhibition hall to introduce new gas-related technologies and equipment.

As this year’s event is the first one to be held in Korea and the third in Asia, interest among Korean energy companies has been high.

At the exhibition, Doosan will introduce various products and solutions of Doosan Fuel Cell, Doosan Corporation’s Fuel Cell Power BU, and Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) using hydrogen fuel cells.

DMI will unveil an anti-drone and gas pipeline inspection solution along with its DS30W product with high wind resistance and durability. The anti-drone solution allows the mobilization of a hydrogen drone equipped with a speaker in the event of an illegally intruding drone, in which case a warning message would be sent to the intruder to try to evict it from the area.

The gas pipeline inspection solution monitors the condition of gas pipelines and surrounding risk factors through real-time video control and automatic drone flights. DMI plans to develop AI automatic recognition technology through learning.

Doosan Fuel Cell will exhibit Tri-gen, which can simultaneously produce hydrogen, electricity, and heat. The product offers advantages such as a hydrogen supply at a competitive price, a flexible response to hydrogen demand for mobility, and a power supply of 350 kW or more.

Doosan Corporation’s Fuel Cell Power BU will exhibit hydrogen fuel cells for buildings and houses, such as a 10kW polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and a 10kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The 10kW SOFC developed last year has the world’s highest level of power generation efficiency.

A Doosan official said:

This World Gas Conference is an opportunity to secure overseas networks as world-class energy-related companies participate in it.

“We intend to contribute to building a hydrogen ecosystem in Korea by expanding business value chains using hydrogen fuel cells.”
