Dutch King visits various hydrogen projects in Spain.
His Majesty the King will visit Madrid and the states of Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia in Spain on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday morning 14 June. His Majesty King Felipe of Spain will be present at some parts of the programme. Minister Jetten for Climate and Energy will participate in the visit.
The theme of the visit is hydrogen as an important energy carrier in the energy system of the future. In order to further strengthen and concretise the collaboration in the field of hydrogen, various Dutch companies and knowledge institutions will also take part in the visit.
International cooperation in the field of knowledge exchange, stimulating supply and demand and the construction of infrastructure for the transport and storage of hydrogen is essential to develop the hydrogen market and the infrastructure that is required.
Spain will become a major supplier of green hydrogen in Europe; hydrogen can then be exported to Northwest Europe via Spanish and Dutch ports. Import and export corridors within Europe contribute to greater security of supply.
King Willem-Alexander opened the first substantial test installation for green hydrogen Hystock in 2019 . He spoke at the ‘ Wind meets gas ‘ conference (2021) about the importance of hydrogen for the Netherlands and the energy transition, and in this context visited TU Delft (2021), Industriepark Kleefse Waard , the port of Rotterdam and various projects. in the North Sea (2022).
