Dynelectro Dispatches 250 kW Dynamic Solid Oxide Electrolyser Unit to Syntholene’s Iceland eSAF Project

Dynelectro ApS has dispatched its first turn-key 250 kW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit (DEU) to Syntholene Energy’s electro-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF) demonstration project in Húsavík, Iceland. Plant is expected to be in operation by the end of June at the latest

Viby Zealand, Denmark – 17 June 2026 – Dynelectro ApS has delivered its first 250 kW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit (DEU) to Syntholene Energy’s electro-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF) demonstration project in Húsavík, Iceland.

The deployment marks an important milestone for electrolyser OEM Dynelectro, as the company transitions from factory validation to customer-site operation of its high-temperature SOEC electrolyser technology. While SOEC technology is known for its industry-leading system efficiency of up to 90% conversion of electricity to hydrogen, Dynelectros proprietary AC:DC technology enables dynamic 0-100% load operation in seconds and an unpreceded SOEC stack lifetime of 7-10 years. This removes a key trade-off traditionally faced by project developers between electrolyser flexibility, efficiency and stack-lifetime.

Prior to shipment, the electrolyser successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at Eltronic PtX’ assembly site and in the process produced one tonne of hydrogen during commisioning and validation activities. The system incorporates SolydEra’s G8X stacks and is designed to support industrial Power-to-X applications including e-fuels, methanol, ammonia and synthetic aviation fuel.

Sune Lilbaek, CEO of Dynelectro, said:

This deployment represents an important step in proving our proprietary SOEC electrolysis solution under real operating conditions

“Our objective is to enable worlds lowest available levelised-cost-of-hydrogen, as well as demonstrate the capabilities of our modular system architecture and execution model required for future MW-scale deployments.”

Dynelectro’s DEU  is supported by several European technology and industrial partners. Notably, Eltronic PtX supported with DFM, assembly and FAT while SolydEra supplied their large G8X solid oxide stacks used in the unit. Syntholene Energy is developing the eSAF demonstration project, which aims to integrate geothermal heat with high-temperature electrolysis for synthetic aviation fuel production.

The deployment is expected to generate valuable operating data supporting future optimization and scale-up of Dynelectro’s Dynamic Electrolyser Unit platform and broader commercial Power-to-X deployments.
