Eberspächer at the Hannover Fair 2022 – Solutions for fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines. Components for mobile and stationary fuel cells Exhaust technology expertise for fuel cells and H2 combustion engines Air compressors as a decisive factor.

At the Hannover Messe from 30 May to 2 June 2022, the Eberspächer Group will be presenting its activities in the field of hydrogen to a broad audience for the first time. Purem by Eberspächer is the specialist for exhaust gas purification in automotive applications, while Eberspächer Vairex convinces with its decades of experience in fuel cell technology.

Hydrogen & Fuel Cells is the meeting place for experts for fuel cell technology at the Hannover Messe. With its participation, the Eberspächer Group underlines the importance of hydrogen as a climate-friendly energy carrier of the future. It is an essential building block for decarbonisation in transport and industry.

At the booth in hall 13, booth D71, the experts will present solutions for air supply and exhaust gas removal in stationary and mobile applications.

Experience advantage Exhaust technology

Purem by Eberspächer uses its experience in the development and production of exhaust gas cleaning systems for conventional combustion engines and hybrid drives. In Hanover, the specialists will show four examples of how the expertise in exhaust gas technology can be used in fuel cell systems and hydrogen combustion engines:

The concept of an exhaust system specially developed for fuel cell systems dissipates the water vapour and is able to separate larger water droplets. In addition, the solution enables the almost silent operation of the already very quiet systems.

A Gas Control Valve is used to control mass flows and bypass other components. An innovative cathode shut-off valve has a positive effect on the durability of the fuel cell stacks. Here, Purem by Eberspächer uses its expertise in the widely used exhaust flap technology.

As a CO2-neutral form of propulsion, hydrogen combustion engines will play an important role in the future, especially in heavy-duty transport. Nitrogen oxides are produced during the combustion process.

To purify these emissions, Purem by Eberspächer relies on its expertise in catalysis and materials science and presents an exhaust gas cleaning system specially developed for this application.

Air compressors for fuel cells

The air compressors for cathode gas supply from Eberspächer Vairex are a key component for the performance of the entire fuel cell system. They control airflow and pressure, affecting efficiency, performance and durability.

The broad portfolio covers the requirements of fuel cells in stationary applications up to 50 kW. The single- and multi-stage compressors are designed for volume flows of up to 75 grams per second and pressures of up to 1.5 bar. In the overall package, the air compressors are supplied with corresponding control and monitoring units.

In addition to the established product range, Eberspächer Vairex will be presenting its new VRC product line in Hanover. These compressors are designed for fuel cells up to 150 kW, for example for truck and bus applications. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

Here, the reliable Vairex technology has been adapted to larger, more powerful compressors with higher pressure. The first prototypes are already being tested by customers.

By expanding its product portfolio to include fuel cell solutions, the Eberspächer Group is pursuing its goal of shaping the clean and quiet mobility of the future.

By adding Eberspächer Vairex to the group of companies, the automotive supplier is opening up new fields of application beyond mobility through a wide range of synergies.
