Egyptian-Greek Energy Relations Enter New Phase with Bilateral CCS, Green Hydrogen Talks

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Theodoros Skylakakis, Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting Cairo.

The discussions explored collaboration in carbon capture and storage (CCS), in addition to green hydrogen storage and transportation within the framework of a strategy that will meet the mutual interests of both nations. 

Badawi highlighted the importance of setting a clear road map to establish an effective cooperation in CCS, and green hydrogen storage and transportation.

The two sides also mentioned that they were studying the signing of a cooperation agreement in CCS and revealed the importance of collaboration with the European Union (EU) in such a domain regarding the regulatory aspects.

Badawi pointed out that Egypt and Greece currently are entering a new era of constructive energy cooperation, characterized by diversity and reliance on low-carbon energies within the framework of working to establish an energy corridor between both countries.
