Enapter, the world leader in AEM electrolyzer technology, has opened its first North Rhine-Westphalia office in anticipation of its coming electrolyzer mass-production site. The green hydrogen company is now ramping up activities in the climate commune of Saerbeck, where construction of its ‘Enapter Campus’ mass-production and R&D facility will begin in September.

Up to 300 staff are expected to be employed at the Campus and the first of these are already working from Saerbeck’s Energiepark, in office, R&D and production space belonging to FH Münster University of Applied Sciences.

Preparation for the mass-production facility is picking up speed, with Enapter awarding the general planning contract to the construction firm GOLDBECK 2 weeks ago. With this, Enapter follows in the footsteps of Tesla in contracting GOLDBECK for its cleantech scale-up build.

Enapter’s Campus will be able to produce more than 100,000 highly efficient AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) electrolyser modules per year. Clients in 33 countries already use these electrolysers to replace fossil fuels with green hydrogen, with serial production taking place in Italy.

Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, Enapter Co-Founder and Chairman:

We’re excited to officially arrive in Saerbeck to start scaling up production of modular green hydrogen technology. And equally exciting: We’ll be able to power this with 100% renewable electricity generated locally and through our own rooftop solar systems

Enapter operations arrive in Saerbeck, NRW, 25 Feb 2021
