Eni, Snam and partners – Hydrogen JRP is underway for research on the energy vector of the future: hydrogen.
A joint research platform between universities and companies to study the development of the energy vector that will be able to make a decisive contribution to the achievement of global climate objectives: hydrogen.
Born Hydrogen Joint Research Platform (Hydrogen JRP) created by the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano , together with the Politecnico di Milano and three founding companies Edison SpA ., Eni SpA and Snam SpA
Hydrogen JRP aims to promote innovative studies and research on: production of clean hydrogen, which includes green and “low carbon” hydrogen; solutions for its transport and related advanced accumulation systems; innovative electrochemical and thermal uses in residential, industrial and transport applications; development of best practices for the design and construction of infrastructures for the transport and storage of hydrogen.
Ferruccio Resta Rector of the Milan Polytechnic specified:
The energy transition is among the greatest challenges of our times.
“There are two key concepts on which we must insist: the strengthening of a political path, of alignment with the European guidelines, which is based on an accompanying phase of the industrial system; the development of research and training to position ourselves as a point of reference in technological terms within the international panorama.”
“For this to happen we need to outline a common project that sees the university alongside businesses. This is why Hydrogen Joint Research Platform, which we are launching thanks to the participation, listening and innovation skills of three large companies in the sector, must be able to extend as far as possible to the productive fabric. “
Andrea Sianesi, President of the Milan Polytechnic Foundation stated:
In the European green revolution, hydrogen will play an important role, it is a flexible energy vector and potentially with zero environmental impact.
“Furthermore, in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the Italian government has reserved an important role precisely for hydrogen to meet the needs of progressive decarbonisation in various sectors.”
“As a Polytechnic Foundation and in line with our mission to act as a bridge between the Academy and the productive fabric, we felt it was strategic to create a joint research center to favor the establishment of an industrial chain associated with the development of hydrogen, which could count on the first Italian technical university and some of the most important companies in the energy field to foster innovation, but also focus on excellent research and effective and impactful technology transfer for the development of the country system”.
