Exmar completes its largest ship-to-ship transfer of ammonia to date in Oman
Its vessel “KORTRIJK”, a Midsize Gas Carrier with a capacity of 38,500 cbm, safely discharged full cargo of ammonia, in collaboration with Trammo at the Port of Sohar.
Ship owner Exmar on Monday (5 January) said it successfully completed its largest ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of ammonia to date in Oman.
Its vessel KORTRIJK, a Midsize Gas Carrier with a capacity of 38,500 cbm, safely discharged full cargo of ammonia, in collaboration with Trammo, Inc. at the port of Sohar.
The company said in a social media post,
This milestone operation is the perfect example of the professionalism of our well-trained crew and their adherence to the highest safety and operational protocols throughout the transfer
“Having over 40 years of experience in handling and transporting ammonia, we continue to build on our expertise in this type of cargo, positioning us strongly as ammonia is increasingly expected to play a key role as a fuel for marine transport.”
Currently, Exmar is expanding its fleet with four 46,000m³ MGCs, equipped with ammonia dual-fuel engines, preparing for a future of safe and low-carbon shipping.
