First conclusive tests of the 100 kW Hopium fuel cell.

HOPIUM (FR0014000U63 – ALHPI), the cleantech which aims to decarbonize heavy transport, announces that it has successfully carried out the first tests on its 100 kW fuel cell. Indeed, the preliminary elementary characterization tests, namely waterproofing, electrode polarization and physical dimensions, were passed without incident and confirm the results obtained by the digital twins developed upstream by Hopium.

Thus, the fuel cell (stack) corresponds to the compactness criteria that Hopium had set for itself, namely a weight of 30 kg (end plates and clamping system included) and a cell thickness (bipolar plates + membranes) of less than 1 mm.

STÉPHANE RABATEL, CEO OF HOPIUM, DECLARES:

WE ARE HAPPY WITH THESE FIRST VALIDATIONS WHICH ARE, FOR US, WITHOUT SURPRISE THANKS TO THE STUDIES AND TESTS CARRIED OUT ON OUR DIGITAL TWINS.

“OUR BATTERY IS NOW ON THE TEST BENCH IN ORDER TO TEST ALL ITS FUNCTIONALITIES AND ESPECIALLY ITS RESISTANCE WITH A GRADUAL INCREASE IN POWER PLANNED OVER THE COMING DAYS. THESE FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TESTS (FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TEST – FAT) ON OUR BENCH WILL ALLOW US TO VALIDATE ALL OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCES AND PASS THE BENCHMARK OF BENCH TESTS. HOWEVER, OUR TEAMS ARE ALREADY PREPARING THE NEXT DECISIVE STEP, THE TEST IN REAL ROAD CONDITIONS.  »

These first encouraging results allow Hopium to confirm its development schedule with an announcement of the results of the bench tests of its battery before the end of July (TRL6), and road tests, in real conditions, in the fall of 2024. and marketing of the first batteries for the beginning of 2025.
