Fluxys launches information rounds for hydrogen and CO2 infrastructure in Belgium.
With the proposals, Fluxys is asking industrial parties to show their interest in connecting to infrastructure with open access for hydrogen and CO 2 in Antwerp, Ghent, Liège and Mons. In this way, Fluxys can ensure efficient transport of both hydrogen and CO 2 by mid-2026 , in line with the Belgian hydrogen vision.
At the beginning of 2021, Fluxys launched an informative market consultation to map out future users of the planned hydrogen and CO 2 network. As a follow-up, Fluxys is launching a number of information rounds to work out further development in specific areas of both the CO 2 and H 2 networks.
In December, Fluxys already launched proposals focused on the areas around Antwerp and Ghent; this week, additional proposals were submitted for the Liège and Mons region. The 4 proposals are another step towards laying new pipelines and repurposing existing infrastructure in line with market needs and the federal government’s hydrogen strategy, which was published last October. Fluxys proposes to develop the necessary infrastructure at the level of industrial clusters, to make connections between these clusters and with neighboring countries in order to make Belgium an import and transit hub in a pan-European grid for hydrogen transport.
