FM Logistic hydrogen plant in Spain begins operations in September.

[El Mercantil] The logistics operator FM Logistic Ibérica has completed the first test of the hydrogen plant for its logistics platform in Illescas (Toledo). Forecasts suggest that it will be ready in September.

At the moment, a test of the equipment has been carried out at the H2B2 factory in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and it has been carried out to ensure its correct operation before its final commissioning, which will be the first integrated green hydrogen project in the Spanish logistics sector. The hydrogen produced in the hydrogen plant can be used both for vehicles for internal use in forklifts, and for external use in vans or trucks.

According to the results obtained, the system works correctly. It will be able to dispense up to 45 kg of green hydrogen per week and the correct production of hydrogen at 20 bar and its subsequent compression has been verified, to ensure that the hydrogen is adapted to the needs of the refueling.

Afterwards, it has been verified that the hydrogen storage is adequate to document the operation with all the safety measures. The last step before the implementation of the hydrogen generator plant in Illescas , next September, will be an on-site test at the FM Logistic warehouse to confirm its correct operational functioning.

Due to its innovative nature, the hydrogen project has the support of the Center for Industrial Technical Development (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (Feder).

Manuel Rodríguez, the person in charge of H2B2 manufacturing and production.

It is necessary to adopt measures that materialize the decarbonization of the industrial and logistics sectors.

“Spain has its own technology ready to operate.”
