GAR certification gives green light for HYTING to launch hydrogen heating in Europe
- Hydrogen heating technology company HYTING has achieved Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR) certification and is now fully certified for field test operation
- The certification was issued by Kiwa, one of the sector’s longest-established test houses after thorough testing and assessment in the Kiwa lab facilities
- HYTING’s flameless, catalytic process enables safe, efficient and clean forced-air heating fuelled by hydrogen, with no CO2, NOx or particulate matter emissions
- This is the latest milestone in HYTING’s commercialisation of its unique technology, which will play a vital role in the decarbonisation of air heating for buildings
- HYTING is currently exhibiting its hydrogen-fuelled heating portfolio at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany (Hall 12.1, Booth E08)
20 March 2025 Wiesbaden, Germany – Hydrogen heating technology company HYTING has received Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR) certification for its products and is now fully certified for field test operation in the European market.
GAR certification is mandatory and must be issued by an independent accredited laboratory. HYTING selected Kiwa to perform the stringent testing and subsequent approval of its technology as Kiwa is one of the sector’s longest-established test houses, with labs worldwide.
Testing was carried out on the HYTING HG10, a 10kW heat generator which is part of the firm’s modular range spanning 10-50kW ratings per unit. All are designed around a proprietary flameless, catalytic process that efficiently generates heat with no CO2, NOx or particulate matter emissions. Achieving GAR certification is the latest milestone in HYTING’s commercialisation roadmap and will help to accelerate the scale-up towards mass production.

Several key milestones in HYTING’s industrialisation roadmap have already been achieved, including the strategic development partnership with ebm-papst, manufacturing partnership with Kampmann, and the first customer – Flusys. HYTING is currently exhibiting its first market-ready products at ISH, world’s leading trade fair for HVAC and water, in Frankfurt, Germany (Hall 12.1, booth E08).
