GeoPura Appoints Lord Harrington of Watford as Chairman to Support Next Phase of Growth

GeoPura has appointed Richard Lord Harrington of Watford as Chairman, strengthening its board as the company accelerates manufacturing scale up, fleet deployment and international expansion in the hydrogen power market.

Lord Harrington brings senior experience across government, investment and advanced manufacturing, alongside a strong commercial background. Before entering public service, he built and led several successful businesses. As former Minister for Business and Industry, he led national work on industrial strategy, energy and inward investment, engaging global manufacturers and institutional investors to attract long term capital into strategic UK sectors. He was subsequently appointed to the House of Lords as a life peer.

He currently serves as Chair of Make UK, representing British manufacturers and advocating for competitiveness and supply chain resilience. His appointment strengthens GeoPura’s governance at a pivotal stage in its growth.

Demand for secure, zero emission power is accelerating as grid constraints intensify, air quality standards tighten and organisations prioritise energy security while moving away from diesel generation across construction, infrastructure, defence, data centres and other critical facilities.

GeoPura produces green hydrogen and manufactures its Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) in the UK, operating an integrated production and deployment model that ensures fuel security and traceability while delivering zero emission electricity where grid capacity is limited or unavailable. Hydrogen acts as a renewable energy storage vector, enabling surplus renewable power to be stored, transported and deployed in locations without sufficient direct grid access, including high demand environments.

The company employs more than 180 people across Sheffield, Nottingham, Denmark and Newcastle upon Tyne, manufacturing at scale in partnership with Siemens Energy. It is expanding its fleet across the UK and Europe through contracted deployments while creating skilled green jobs and apprenticeships.

Lord Harrington of Watford said:

GeoPura is building a scalable clean energy business with strong industrial foundations and credible institutional backing.

” Its integrated model and UK manufacturing base position it well for sustained growth in a market undergoing structural transformation. It is creating high quality UK jobs while developing the skills needed in a growing and strategically important industry. Hydrogen will play an essential role in sectors where electrification alone cannot meet demand. GeoPura delivers reliable power while improving air quality and reducing emissions. By investing in domestic capability and workforce development, the company is strengthening both economic resilience and long-term energy security. I look forward to supporting its continued expansion in the UK and internationally.”

Andrew Cunningham, Founder and CEO of GeoPura, said:

Lord Harrington’s appointment is a major milestone for GeoPura.

”His experience across business, investment and government brings exceptional depth to our board at a defining moment in our growth. I’m excited to welcome him as Chairman as we scale our production capability and expand further internationally. This is not only about carbon reduction. By removing fossil and biofuel emissions from worksites and critical facilities, we’re improving air quality, protecting public health and building resilient energy infrastructure that communities, businesses and national institutions can depend on.”

GeoPura has secured backing fromBarclays Sustainable Impact Capital, Siemens Energy Ventures, GM Ventures, the National Wealth Fund and SWEN Capital Partners, alongside substantial debt funding to expand renewable fuel infrastructure and its HPU fleet.

Following its expansion into mainland Europe, GeoPura deployed its systems at theMunich Security Conference, delivering zero emission, high reliability power at a globally significant event.

With strengthened leadership, committed institutional support and growing international reach, GeoPura is positioned to scale clean power infrastructure that delivers decarbonisation, improved air quality and long-term energy resilience.
