German truck manufacturer Quantron wants to deliver hydrogen trucks to Norwegian companies through the H2 Truck project.
The German truck manufacturer Quantron wants to deliver hydrogen trucks to Norwegian companies through the H2 Truck project.
Several manufacturers are now preparing the production of hydrogen trucks. It is time to put in place a program with support schemes and incentives to expand a network of filling stations and for the acquisition of hydrogen trucks, says Jan Carsten Gjerløw, general manager of Evergreen and project manager for H2 Truck.
H2 Truck aims to get the first 100 hydrogen trucks to the Oslo region, with associated infrastructure. Gjerløw is seen the collaboration with Quantron as a breakthrough for the project, and for the roll-out of emission-free trucks in Norway, it appears in a joint press release from the companies.
Quantron’s initiative is exactly what we need. The transport industry is ready to switch to zero emissions, and hydrogen will be part of the solution. What we need now is the trucks, and I am happy to collaborate with Quantron to kickstart the rollout of hydrogen trucks in Norway,” says Gjerløw.
Delivers to Norway in 2023
Quantron was established in 2019 as a high-tech spin-off by Haller GmbH &Co, which offers electric trucks and buses in all weight and size classes to commercial customers and municipalities.
According to the plan, the Germans will start producing hydrogen vehicles in 2022, and will be able to deliver trucks to Norway in 2023.

The H2 Truck project has gathered the entire value chain in one ecosystem and that makes it attractive to distribute our trucks here.
“We aim to offer customers a full service based on green hydrogen, and see this as a great opportunity, says Anil Reddi, project manager for Quantron.”
“It is time to put in place a program of support schemes and incentives to expand a network of filling stations and to procure hydrogen trucks.”
The German company also plans to expand its range of emission-free vehicles across the full range of sustainable mobility. Therefore, the company entered into a strategic partnership with Ballard Power Systems, which is among the world’s leading manufacturers of fuel cells for heavy hydrogen vehicles (FCEV).

We are pleased that Quantron can join the hydrogen offensive in Norway together with our partner Ballard Power Systems and H2 Truck.
“We are very grateful to have been introduced to this important initiative. Quantron is committed to becoming a leader in the European hydrogen economy, and Norway is a very important milestone on our roadmap.”
Started in 2019
The H2 Truck project was started in 2019 and over the past two years the project has brought together the most important players in the value chain for the roll-out of hydrogen trucks in Norway: green hydrogen manufacturers, station operators, equipment suppliers and truck users. This has been done in close cooperation with the regional authorities in Oslo Municipality and Viken County Municipality.
“As the trucks now become available, the last piece of the puzzle falls into place,” says Gjerløw.
Among the companies that have become partners with the H2 Truck project are Statkraft, Asko, DB Schenker, ColliCare, Posten and PostNord.
Work is now underway to establish a pilot with the first trucks and stations. The project is funded by the partners, Viken County Municipality and Oslo Municipality.
