Hydrogen truck roadshow stops at the Middle Elbe industrial and commercial park
Magdeburg. H2 Green Power & Logistics GmbH reached Saxony-Anhalt on its roadshow with the Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell truck through eleven cities in seven federal states. After stops in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, the truck arrived on Monday (December 6th) at the Mittelelbe industrial and commercial park on Glindenberger Weg in Magdeburg.
H2 GreenPowerLog, based in Münster and with a branch in Magdeburg, is at home here. Dr. Ludger Hellenthal is the managing partner of this company and of the Middle Elbe industrial and commercial park including the Magdeburg truck stop. The company just opened a new electric filling station here directly at the A2 motorway exit Magdeburg-Rothensee last summer and held a national stakeholder conference on the subject of hydrogen a year earlier. Now the next part of the energy transition is on the road. H2 GreenPowerLog is the first market player in Germany to provide H2 trucks from Hyundai for CO2-free commercial vehicle logistics in the pay per use model or as part of a purchasing association and green hydrogen.
A video message came from Seoul to Magdeburg from Hyundai Senior Vice President Global Sales, Mark Freymueller. After a successful start in Switzerland in 2020, Beat Hirschi, CEO Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility AG, announced the market launch of the H2 Hyundai trucks in Germany as well. Hirschi and its Chairman of the Board of Directors Rolf Huber have set ambitious volume targets for Germany. They emphasize that this must be in line with the development of the further green hydrogen economy and the filling station infrastructure. “We look forward to the partnership with H2 Green Power & Logistics and their sales brand H2 Delivery,” it said.
Nikolas Iwan, Managing Director of H2 Mobility Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, explains:
We are currently adding the 350-bar option to our public hydrogen filling station network as required, so that trucks such as the Hyundai Xcient can also be supplied with hydrogen, including the filling station that opened in 2018 of the Autohofs Magdeburg in cooperation with H2 GreenPowerLog.
“Commissioning is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022 in time for the arrival of the first Hyundai Xcient trucks from South Korea. “
At the roadshow, Hellenthal stops at its first fleet customers with the Hyundai show truck. “Despite Corona, we have already reached over 250 companies in just a few days, both decision-makers and practitioners,” said Hellenthal. The company is on the market with a complete ecosystem for green hydrogen in commercial vehicle mobility and later also with large stationary customers. The roadshow under the infection protection rules 2G + ends after another outdoor event on the Euref campus in Berlin on December 8th in the port of Hamburg.
Green hydrogen by road, rail, ship and pipeline
Through its sales subsidiary H2 Delivery quattromodal, H2 GreenPowerLog sells green hydrogen by road, rail, pipeline connections and inland waterway transport from its own green electricity, which is produced in Magdeburg and generated with photovoltaics, wind power and biomass for H2 electrolysis.
Nils Burkhardt, Branch Manager Magdeburg:
We are reaching the next stage in the expansion of renewable energies with green hydrogen technology, initially to supply 30 trucks on the regional routes around Magdeburg.”
The connection to the Green Octopus pipeline hydrogen supply from Central Germany is also expected At Ontras to reduce the cost of transporting green hydrogen.
H2 GreenPowerLog customers are companies from wholesale and retail, industry and trade, logistics and refineries in the procurement and use of green hydrogen. In 2021, the company was also awarded the contract for its delivery in the first public tender by TU Berlin / Berliner Hafen & Lagergesellschaft for the “Elektra” project.
Hellenthal undertook a “self-experiment” at the end of the hydrogen truck presentation in front of the audience in Magdeburg, when he drank a glass of the purest water that the H2 truck had left behind in fuel cell operation instead of the conventional exhaust gas emissions.
