TRAXX Concept H2 from EXXACT Robotics operates on a zero-emission alternative to petrol and diesel, without sacrificing work efficiency or performance.
EXXACT Robotics made a big revelation at World FIRA 2023 by unveiling the world’s first autonomous hydrogen wine tractor. As EXEL Industries’ innovative research center, EXXACT Robotics is dedicated to the development of disruptive technologies. TRAXX Concept H2 is the most recent example of these efforts.

“People are looking for zero-emission solutions, so we decided to develop a zero-emission machine.”
The autonomous jumper is built with a full-power fuel cell and high-power batteries that provide up to 35 kW. It is also equipped with two tanks containing just over 9 kilograms of hydrogen. This impressive tank capacity allows the TRAXX Concept H2 to operate for up to 12 hours straight.
The most exciting feature, of course, is that the robot runs on hydrogen. This offers producers a zero-emission fuel alternative to gasoline and diesel, a particularly attractive option as the industry moves towards adopting green solutions. In addition, hydrogen makes the machine lighter and quieter that runs efficiently and refuels quickly.
« Before starting to develop TRAXX Concept H2, we carried out a life cycle assessment between electric batteries and hydrogen ” said Enderlen, noting that EXXACT Robotics was trying to determine which solution would perform best.
“The impacts on emissions were very similar. We have therefore chosen to develop the hydrogen concept.
Currently in the prototype phase, TRAXX Concept H2 will begin testing with select wine customers in May, June and July this year. The goal is to get feedback on the safety, user experience and refueling capabilities of the tractor before marketing the autonomous machine in the next two to three years.
