Green energy: GenCell signs a fuel cell framework agreement for cooperation with Deutsche Telekom.

GenCell updates on a significant milestone in its operations – a framework agreement for strategic cooperation with the telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, considered the largest telecommunications operator in Europe and one of the largest U.S. operators whose facilities are deployed in over 50 countries around the world.

As part of the agreement, the possibility of integrating GenCell’s fuel cell systems into Deutsche Telekom’s telecommunications network will be examined as an alternative to diesel-based generators, in accordance with its stated goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions at its sites by switching to “green electricity.”

GenCell notes that from the company’s point of view, the agreement of cooperation, as well as the cooperation agreement with TDK, which the company reported a few months ago, are an important endorse of the success of the technology developed by the company, and also contribute to the company’s position in its target markets, and help deepen its activity in these markets vis-à-vis new customers, in accordance with the company’s goals and business strategy.

Under the agreement, Deutsche Telekom will acquire a hydrogen-powered G5 Version system for backup purposes. The system, which will be supplied and operated during the third quarter of 2021, will undergo a week-long trial procedure at the company’s laboratories in Germany.

Depending on the success of the experiment, GenCell will be recognized as an official supplier of Deutsche Telekom and the G5 product will be approved for purchase for all the group’s companies. The cooperation agreement includes general framework conditions for purchase, including trading conditions that will apply in relation to potential purchases of the Company’s fuel cells, if indeed purchased.

In the second phase, which will begin after and subject to a successful completion of the first stage, the parties will conduct an area test in which the 5G system will be installed to continue working on an active cellular site in Germany for a period of up to a year, during which the system will continue to be tested in various work scenarios as defined by the parties.

In addition, it was agreed between the parties that Deutsche Telekom will test on a mobile site in Germany the 5A system of GenCell, which serves as a primary energy source and acts on the basis of ammonia used as fuel. The parties agreed to place the A5 system by the end of 2021 at a designated site for an experiment that will include approximately 1,000 hours of operation.

In accordance with and subject to the success of the experiment, the parties will work together regarding the formal announcement of the results of the trial, as well as promoting marketing activity within the Deutsche Telekom Group, in which the A5 system will be promoted as a substitute for diesel-based generators.

Rami Reshef, Founder and CEO of General:

We are updating today on a cooperation agreement with Deutsche Telekom that sees GenCell’s fuel cell systems as a significant means of achieving its stated goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions at its sites by switching to green electricity.

“We are proud of this and see this development as another endoror to the unique technological capabilities developed by GenCell.”

“GenCell’s joining of Europe’s largest telecommunications company is undoubtedly a significant milestone, and may serve as an engine for generating significant revenue for the company, both with Deutsche Telekom itself and with other large customers.”

“We recently reported a successful summary of the 1,500-hour trial we carried out in the 5A system in the cellular system of Iceland’s telecommunications company, a success that in our assessment has also given us a headwind to the agreement with Deutsche Telekom, and will also continue to support the deepening of our operations in other markets.”

As part of the agreement, Genesal and Deutsche Telekom also agreed on strategic technological cooperation for developments related to clean hydrogen production and green ammonia production.
