H2 Peru, Peruvian Hydrogen Association, created a year ago to promote the development of green hydrogen in the country as a key part of the decarbonization of the economy, presented to the Congress Authorities and the National Executive Power the document ” Project of Law of promotion of Green Hydrogen”, which contains a normative proposal, with the aim of debating a regime for the promotion of green hydrogen.
Daniel Cámac, President of H2 Peru, said:
We presented the proposal to the Energy and Mines Commission of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, to the Ministry of Energy and Mines and to the Ministry of the Environment.
“Our goal is to promote a debate that is delayed today, Peru needs to build a regulatory framework and a set of decisions that allow the hydrogen industry to be promoted. Our proposal seeks to contribute to a necessary and essential discussion for the future development of the country” , he continued.

The initiative promotes innovation, development, production and export of green hydrogen “as an energy vector, fuel or as an input for industrial processes” .
The actions being promoted are designed ” to decarbonize the economy and meet national commitments to fight climate change, in addition to constituting a unique opportunity to generate a new industry, promote its derivatives, economic diversification, socioeconomic development and innovation . “
The document proposes to design and implement a “National Green Hydrogen Strategy” which must have precise objectives and goals to be achieved by the end of this decade, through a multisectoral working group led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The document states that ” green hydrogen is obtained by electrolysis of water, using electrical energy provided by renewable sources, or other different processes, provided that in its production greenhouse gas emissions are zero or very close to zero.”
The document also includes declaring ” of national interest the production, transportation, storage, conditioning, export, distribution, research and end use of Green Hydrogen in its various forms . “ Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.
The proposal was developed from a collaborative work of more than 7 months between the associates of H2 Peru, who make up the ecosystem of green hydrogen in Peru, representatives of the academy and the private and public sectors.
“We hope to accelerate this discussion in Congress and collaborate to reach agreements and offer a regulatory framework that allows the country to position itself among the leaders of this new industry” concluded Daniel Cámac.
