A lighter and more powerful racing machine than a full electric motorcycle.

In France, we may have more large-scale motorcycle manufacturers, but we have many companies that develop interesting ideas on the engines of tomorrow. In addition to Nawa and its prototype supercapacitor motorcycle, H2 Motronics is running a hydrogen racing sports car project.

This project was initiated in 2019 when the Nivernais technical design office, a subsidiary of Texys Group, was commissioned to imagine and develop a racing motorcycle powered by a hydrogen fuel cell to demonstrate the interest of this technology for light mobility.

Well advanced, the H2K project, with a K for Kompact, has so far illustrated its concept with visuals and fairly precise data. The idea here is to design a sports bike powered by hydrogen that is lighter and more efficient than a fully electric motorcycle.

Well advanced, the H2K project, with a K for Kompact, has so far illustrated its concept with visuals and fairly precise data. The idea here is to design a sports bike powered by hydrogen that is lighter and more efficient than a fully electric motorcycle. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

According to the simulations carried out, the engine of more than 100 kW would thus make it possible to approach the performance of moto3 with a time of 1’38.7 on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia and the possibility of completing 11 laps of the race. The maximum speed is estimated at 237 km/h.

All this will of course deserve to be checked on the track. The company plans to present its prototype during the spring. When this is completed, the technology will then be adapted to other types of vehicles.
