H2Med ‘backbone of hydrogen, millions of tons by 2030’, EU.
The European Commission welcomed an agreement on the H2Med project between France, Spain and Portugal.
European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said in speaking at the ninth Euro-Mediterranean Summit (EU-Med9) taking place in Alicante, Spain, that: “Your H2Med project is going in the right direction. It has the potential to help us build a real European hydrogen backbone”.
She said that it would be possible to produce 10 million tons of renewable hydrogen in the EU by 2030 and that the bloc expected to import an additional 10 million tonnes for EU industries.
She added that the Iberian peninsula was becoming an important European energy hub towards the rest of the world.(ANSAmed).
