H2U selects Worley to engineer large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia project. Worley has been awarded the engineering services contract, by H2U Group, for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase of the greenfield demonstrator stage of the Eyre Peninsula Gateway™ project, located in South Australia.

Integrating a 75 MW electrolysis plant, and a 120 tonnes per day (tpd) ammonia synthesis plant, the demonstrator stage will have a total production capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year and 40,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year, respectively.

Gillian Cagney, President – Australia & New Zealand (incl. PNG & Mongolia), Worley:

We see the critical role that hydrogen has to play in building a more sustainable future.

“First of their kind projects such as this, are directly aligned to our purpose of delivering a more sustainable world and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the development of the hydrogen economy.”

As part of future phases, the project will be expanded to drive further exports of green ammonia to support decarbonization in the global power generation and maritime transport markets.

At full scale, the Eyre Peninsula Gateway™ project will have a total production capacity of over 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year and 800,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year, respectively.
