Hauzer Flexicoat ® 1250 almost ready to ship to a German manufacturer of metallic bipolar plates.
In 2022, Hauzer signed a contract with a German manufacturer of metallic bipolar plates (BPPs) for the delivery of a Flexicoat® 1250 system. This batch coating machine for physical vapour deposition (PVD) will be used for the development of coatings to protect metallic BPPs, which need to withstand the corrosive environment inside proton-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The contract includes the recipe of Hauzer’s base coating for metallic BPPs.
The customer will receive a fully functional medium-size batch machine, configured with several PVD technologies for the base coating plus features to deposit additional materials for R&D purposes. The factory acceptance test is planned for March and the installation and site acceptance tests are scheduled for April. The system will then be ready for use by the customer.

This Flexicoat®system is the first PVD machine specifically configured for coating metallic BPPs for PEM fuel cells in Europe. With this shipment, Hauzer accelerates its effort as a market leader in PVD coating equipment for PEM fuel cells and as the technology partner of choice for hydrogen companies.
For upscaling to mass production Hauzer’s Flexliner® Inline System is available in currently two different sizes.
