HD Hydrogen Establishes Mass Production System for Korean-Style Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
HD Hydrogen, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai specializing in fuel cells and water electrolysis systems, is establishing a mass production system for Korean-style solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and officially entering the market.
HD Hydrogen announced on the 7th that it has completed pre-use inspections for its SOFC power generation systems, the HD250 and HD300, as well as for its manufacturing facilities, from the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and has established a mass production system for these products.
The HD250 and HD300 are small- and medium-sized SOFC systems for power generation, with output capacities of 249 kW and 285 kW, respectively. Through this inspection, HD Hydrogen has verified the electrical safety and compliance of both its products and manufacturing facilities, laying a foundation for stable product manufacturing and supply.
HD Hydrogen was established in August 2024 and, within just two years, completed the development of high-efficiency SOFC power generation systems and built its production lines.
SOFC is regarded as a next-generation power generation technology among hydrogen fuel cells, as it can achieve high power efficiency. It can utilize various fuels such as natural gas and hydrogen, and the heat generated in the power production process can also be used, making it a core technology for eco-friendly distributed power sources.
The newly mass-produced HD250 and HD300 are small- and medium-sized products that meet high market demand for power generation. They utilize a water-free operation technology that enables operation without external water supply, improving both installation convenience and operational efficiency.
