Hexagon Purus announces orders from Solaris for the delivery of hydrogen fuel storage systems.

Hexagon Purus, a world leading manufacturer of zero emission mobility and infrastructure solutions, has received purchase orders for the delivery of hydrogen fuel storage systems to Solaris, a leading European bus manufacturer, worth approximately EUR 6.4 million. The purchase orders can be viewed in conjunction with the previously announced long-term supply agreement with Solaris in November 2021. Hexagon Purus’ hydrogen fuel storage systems will be used to support Solaris’ roll-out of hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses in Europe following recent public tender win in Bologna, Italy.

Since 2021, Hexagon Purus has delivered hydrogen fuel storage systems for close to 200 Solaris hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses.

Driving Energy Transformation

Michael Kleschinski, Executive Vice President of Hexagon Purus, says:

Solaris is a leading player in driving the zero-emission transition in European public transportation. We have a long-standing relationship with them and applaud their success in securing new contracts for hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses in Europe.

“We are committed to helping them decarbonize the European public transport sector”.

About the market

The transportation sector is accountable for about 20% of annual carbon emissions globally, and hydrogen has a significant role to play in reducing emissions from this sector and other hard-to-abate sectors. Making green hydrogen available for use in the transportation sector is critical to reduce carbon emissions.

As hydrogen, a key contributor to the energy transition, continues to build momentum globally, more than 30 countries have released hydrogen roadmaps, over USD 70 billion in government funding is committed to hydrogen investments, 500 large-scale hydrogen projects have been announced by the industry to date and green hydrogen is projected to supply up to 25% of the world’s energy needs by 2050.
