HVR Energy and Q8 sign a Memorandum of Understanding to deploy hydrogen stations plants in Spain

Madrid, September 16, 2025.- HVR Energy and Q8 Energy Red have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the deployment of the INICIA hydrogen refueling network at existing service stations in Spain. The agreement, signed between the companies, establishes a framework for cooperation to accelerate the availability of renewable hydrogen in strategic corridors across the country.

INICIA is HVR Energy’s hydrogen refueling model designed for rapid deployment, low installed capacity, and a reduced footprint, with dispensing at 350 bar, facilitating its operational integration into existing assets and the safe and efficient start-up of demand. The logistical approach—receiving compressed hydrogen (≥500 bar or higher)—minimizes on-site compression and storage, optimizing CAPEX and OPEX and contributing to Spain’s objectives.

The MoU establishes a first phase with the deployment of up to two stations by March 2026, with Badajoz and Córdoba as prioritized sites. HVR Energy will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and maintenance, as well as hydrogen supply; Q8 will be responsible for sales to the end customer.

The scope of the collaboration includes periodic consultations and joint planning, as well as shared actions to promote hydrogen and drive R&D&I initiatives associated with the infrastructure. Following this initial phase, both companies will explore additional deployment opportunities within the station network.

Santiago Ramas, CEO of HVR Energy, said:

With Q8, we are taking a decisive step toward bringing hydrogen to the station.

“INICIA allows us to start quickly, at 350 bar, with a competitive solution that reduces barriers and accelerates real adoption by fleets and operators,”

Abdullah Al-Roumi, Retail Manager of Q8 Energy Red, SL, said:

For Q8, hydrogen is a key factor in the energy transition.

“This collaboration with HVR Energy allows us to bring tangible solutions to our customers and advance the decarbonization of transport in Spain,”

With this agreement, HVR Energy and Q8 activate a joint plan that begins with the first sites and operational integration. The results of this phase will mark the expansion of the network to new points, bringing hydrogen closer to priority corridors of the TEN-T network.
