This hydrogen bus will take you and your car to your holiday destination – Topgear.
Throwing the last suitcase in the back, throwing the kids a sweaty currant ball, shouting at the navigation that you want to go to camping Nous Détestons les Touristes and sitting back while the car drives automatically and emission-free to France – that’s where it has to go someday. But for the time being, cars do not yet drive autonomously and most of them do not drive without emissions. Is this hydrogen bus from the French Symone the solution?
Symone’s hydrogen bus gives more or less the same result. The hydrogen bus is waiting for you along the highway at a carpool spot or gas station after you have booked it via an app. You drive to the bus and park your car on the roof or your motorcycle in the back. You will sit on the bus yourself to be taken to your destination in peace.
Also perfect for EVs
The idea has a few major advantages. Those who drive electric do not have to stop ten times on the road at busy charging points, for motorcyclists it is nice that they do not have to sit on the highway for hours and with petrol cars there is no emissions until the holiday destination. In total, four cars and five motorcycles can be carried. And at the destination you no longer have to rent a car.
Symone’s first bus should be ready in 2024
The French company wants to have the first bus ready in 2024, for the Paris Olympics. From that moment on, production must start and by 2030 100 hydrogen buses must be running on the French motorways. There are no known plans to bring the bus to the Netherlands, but it sounds like a good idea as far as we are concerned.
