Hydrogen Central meets the Chairman of H2 MEET Korea, Mr. Kang.
Hydrogen Central had the pleasure to chat with Mr. Kang, president of the Korean Automobile Manufacturers Association, KAMA, during the World Hydrogen Summit 2024 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Mr. Kang is also the chairman of the H2 Meet Committee.
KAMA is the organiser of H2 Meet a global hydrogen show that takes place every year in South Korea.
What is the goal of your visit to the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam?
Hydrogen is a very important player for decarbonisation. The hydrogen industry is in the very early stages, in order to make a hydrogen global ecosystem possible, there are many companies as well as countries that should combine their strengths. Meaning that we should work together, that’s why we come here to Rotterdam, to see the recent developments of hydrogen technologies and industry and to find opportunities for cooperation.
The Netherlands is a key player in the hydrogen industry, how do you plan too leverage the significant opportunities that the Dutch market presents for Korean companies and government organisations?
We came here together with more than 15 Korean hydrogen companies which have very specific technological capabilities and I believe that Korean companies’ capabilities and resources can make up significant contributions in the Netherlands as well as the global hydrogen economy.

What kind of companies are visiting the Summit?
There are over 15 Korean companies in the Korean pavilion at the World Hydrogen Summit this year. For example, companies working on ammonia cracking catalysts, high pressure containers for liquefied and compressed hydrogen among others.
We have observed that the H2 Meet show is growing bigger and bigger over the last four years, has has it developed as one of the leading hydrogen exhibitions worldwide?
We have our own event, H2 Meet, this year in September we will host the 5th edition. Over the past four years our exhibition for the hydrogen industry has grown significantly. Last year, 350 companies and agencies participated in our H2 Meet event. This year more than 400 companies will participate in our event. This would be a great place filled with opportunities for all sort of global hydrogen companies to get together and showcase their technologies and to boost business cooperations.
What are the H2 Meet committees missions in the H2 Meet roadmap for the hydrogen industry?
The global hydrogen industry is in its early stages, so companies should get together and combine their resources, strengths and knowledge. H2 Meet has an important role to create a cooperative environment for these technologies.
Are there other messages you’d like to add?
In Korea we are very advanced with technologies and business such as hydrogen mobility, hydrogen passenger cars and buses, as well as hydrogen ships, so we hope that this Korean strength in the hydrogen mobility sector can help make contributions to the global hydrogen industry.
