Hydrogen filling station for trucks opened in Magdeburg – H2 Mobility

Hydrogen filling station for trucks opened in Magdeburg – H2 Mobility.

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, the hydrogen filling station developer and operator H2 MOBILITY Deutschland and the hydrogen investor H2 Green Power & Logistics opened a new hydrogen truck filling station today. This means that hydrogen trucks can now also refuel in the state capital.

Willingmann welcomes the investment in the modern filling station:

Sustainable mobility needs hydrogen; This particularly applies to heavy goods traffic. In order for goods and goods to get from A to B in the most climate-friendly way possible in the future, it is important that this hydrogen is increasingly produced using renewable energies.

The Ministry of Energy is therefore strengthening the production and research on green hydrogen in Saxony-Anhalt.”

Mayor Simone Borris is pleased about the hydrogen truck filling station in Magdeburg and its importance for the region:

Hydrogen is an environmentally friendly energy source of the future and is comparatively easy to transport !

This means the investment fits perfectly into our city’s climate protection strategy. Our commercial area in Rothensee is exactly the right location for the new hydrogen filling station, because the surrounding companies in particular benefit from the logistical requirements and the good transport connections. My thanks go to the investor and all the companies involved in the construction!”

Responsible for the construction and operation of the hydrogen filling station is H2 MOBILITY Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, which has been driving the development of the hydrogen infrastructure in Germany since 2015. The dispenser at the gas station is an innovation from H2 MOBILTY Germany, which the company developed independently and applied for a patent. The product is based on the experience of thousands of refueling processes and combines intelligent control and technology in the smallest of spaces. It therefore meets the demanding requirements for reliable, high-performance refueling of several trucks in a row.

Lorenz Jung, Managing Director and CCO of H2 MOBILITY Germany, said:

Our hydrogen truck filling station has created a fertile ecosystem of infrastructure and local logistics companies on Glindenberger Weg.

“The location is a role model for logistics, which already relies on sustainable drives. DACHSER, Norma and Samsung SDS are already showing how easy the switch is in practical tests with the H2 delivery trucks from the Hyundai brand, model XCIENT Fuell Cell. These trading and logistics companies regularly run routes from here to Berlin, Leipzig and Hanover. With our massive expansion of the 350 bar network, there are increasingly more opportunities to switch to hydrogen in heavy-duty transport – also in other regions of Germany,”

The hydrogen truck filling station at the TotalEnergies Autohof Magdeburg, Glindenberger Weg 3, is conveniently located directly on the A2 and closes the gap for the transport of goods with hydrogen between Magdeburg and Hanover, Berlin and Leipzig. The transport companies DACHSER, the food discounter Norma and Samsung SDS are already making use of the hydrogen tank offer.

For H2 GreenPowerLog boss Dr. According to Ludger Hellenthal, the opening of the new hydrogen truck filling station is “another step on the way to the energy transition on the roads”. H2 GreenPowerLog has been supplying trucks in the food industry with green hydrogen since the end of 2022, works with logistics service providers and offers a complete ecosystem for green commercial vehicle mobility in all industries. The quattromodal company also operates green hydrogen by rail, ship and pipeline connection.

Three Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks, as well as a FAUN ENGIUNIUS BLUPOWER H2 garbage collection vehicle and an Iveco Daily FCEV H2 panel van were presented at the opening.

For the construction of the hydrogen truck station, H2 MOBILITY Deutschland received funding of €400,000 from the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP ) by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV).
