Hydrogen Fuel Cells – Three-way MOU, including Doosan Efficiency, will develop 40MW cogeneration technology
Doosan Group has joined hands with Southern Power to build an eco-friendly power plant.
Doosan Fuel Cell announced on the 21st that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Southern Power’s Shinsejongbit Dream Headquarters and Doosan Energy’s “energy resource flexibility technology cooperation” at the Shinsejongbit Dream Headquarters in Sejong City on the 17th.
This agreement is designed to improve the overall efficiency of the power plant and convert it into an eco-friendly power plant by combining the technologies and products owned by Doosan Fuel Cell and Doosan Energy at the Shinsejong Bit Dream headquarters cogeneration plant.
The Shinsejong Light Dream headquarters cogeneration plant, which started commercial operation in June last year, can produce 630MW of electricity (420MW of gas turbine, 210MW of steam turbine) and 340Gcal of heat energy per hour using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its main fuel. Doosan Efficiency supplied steam turbines, a key component.
Through the technology agreement, the three companies decided to develop a cogeneration mode that can achieve optimal comprehensive efficiency by utilizing hydrogen fuel cells of up to 40MW and advance automatic power generation control (AGC) operation technology to stabilize the power system. It also plans to consider developing a business model that combines the technology with cogeneration plants in the future by forming a consultative body and maintaining continuous cooperative relationships.

Through this MOU, we have developed a new business model that is eco-friendly and increases power generation efficiency, and we are expected to expand additional sales after the development is completed.
