Hydrogen Mobility – APF France handicap and Hype join forces to deploy Crit’Air 0 taxi services adapted to people with reduced mobility.

APF France handicap, a national association for the defense and representation of people with disabilities and their families, and Hype, a pioneer in zero-emission hydrogen mobility, have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed in the very short term at accelerating the deployment good scale of zero-emission PMR taxi services (Crit’Air 0), and over time, to gradually improve mobility services for People with Reduced Mobility.

On the occasion of the 43rd congress of APF France handicap which was held in Reims from June 22 to 24, Hype deployed its first Crit’Air 0 taxis adapted to the transport of people with reduced mobility (TPMR) with which its drivers employees provided travel for some of the participants.

The deployment of these vehicles is part of the partnership between Hype and Stellantis, which includes the delivery of a first fleet of 50 PMR Crit’Air 0 Parisian taxis.

These vehicles, Peugeot e-Expert and Citroën ë- Jumpy, produced on the Stellantis site in Hordain in the Hauts-de-France, are 100% “hybrid” electric: they incorporate a rechargeable battery of reasonable size and a fuel cell device which allows them to have a range of 400 kilometers and to recharge in 3 minutes, which is an optimal solution for scaling up, including from an energy efficiency point of view. They can accommodate 5 passengers and their luggage including one in a wheelchair or 6 passengers without a wheelchair.

As part of this partnership, Stellantis and Hype have the capacity to deploy up to 1,000 PMR Crit’Air 0 taxis by the end of 2024, these potential additional volumes being however linked to obtaining the operating license ” PMR Parisian taxi” being set up by the French Government, according to the system provided for in article 26 of the law relating to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This exceptional event represents a unique opportunity to align political and industrial agendas, to respond to some of the urgent needs formulated by APF France handicap for several years, and to provide a concrete response to the Government’s commitments in terms of decarbonizing mobility and of reindustrialization. APF France handicap has placed innovation at the heart of its agenda to accelerate transitions and build an inclusive society.

Via its Techlab, APF France handicap promotes the participation of people with disabilities in innovation and carries out work to make the car of tomorrow, a car for everyone, which is more accessible, ergonomic, comfortable and durable.

It is in this context that APF France handicap and Hype have come together to study the means of pooling their expertise, their resources and their feedback, in order to improve the offer of transport services for people with mobility. reduced, and in particular:

  • Accelerate the deployment and adoption by as many drivers and users as possible of PMR Crit’Air 0 taxi solutions, the only ones that can effectively combat air and noise pollution, while decarbonizing this essential segment of transport .
  • Continuously improve the ergonomics, accessibility, functionality, comfort, reliability and use of these best-priced vehicles in terms of health and the environment.
  • Capitalize on Hype’s specific organization, in particular its hundreds of specially trained salaried drivers, to develop tailor-made, priority and continuously available services.
  • Promote these solutions so that they are easily identifiable and accessible to as many people as possible, by informing and training carers and beneficiaries.
  • Finally, work over the long term, via discussion groups including drivers, people with reduced mobility, professionals and volunteers, to gradually improve mobility services for people with reduced mobility.

In line with the commitment of APF France handicap in favor of a real paradigm shift as required by the UN and the Council of Europe, the purpose of this cooperation is to develop integrated solutions that meet the most close to the constraints and needs of Persons with Reduced Mobility.

Serge Widawski, Managing Director of APF France handicap, declared :

A device which contributes both to improving the mobility of people with reduced mobility and to reducing the carbon footprint of travel fits perfectly into the inclusive society that we defend.

EstellePeyrard, Head of the TechLab, APF France handicap, added :

I salute the inclusive and responsible innovation approach of the Hype company and its desire to involve people with reduced mobility in the design and improvement of his service.

Mathieu Gardies, Chairman and CEO and Founder of Hype commented :

The public authorities have set the objective of 1,000 new PMR taxis in circulation in Paris by the end of 2024.

“With APF France handicap, we are going to position inclusion at the forefront of energy transition and the fight against pollution.”
