Hydrogen UK to discuss future of British energy at Labour Party Conference.

Hydrogen UK, the largest trade association for the industry in the UK, will be holding a flagship event, ‘Cheap, Clean & Green: The Future of British Energy?’, at the Labour Party Conference on Tuesday 27 September.

The event plans to explore the impact of the current energy crisis on Britain’s pathway to achieving net zero by 2050. Panellists will discuss the vulnerability caused by dependence on fossil fuels and the potential for low-carbon hydrogen to reduce costs and improve energy security.

Panellists are scheduled to include:

  • Alan Whitehead MP, Shadow Minister for Green New Deal & Energy
  • Anthony Lane, Dow Jones/OPIS
  • Clare Jackson, Hydrogen UK
  • David Cairns, VP Political & Public Affairs at Equinor
  • Alex Simakov, Senior Fellow; Energy & Environment Unit at Policy Exchange (Chair)

Clare Jackson, Hydrogen UK CEO said:

As the UK’s largest hydrogen trade body, we remain focused on ensuring that the positive role hydrogen can play in the UK’s energy mix is fully appreciated by all political stakeholders.

“Our panel event at the Labour Party Conference is an opportunity to underline the value hydrogen can add to Britain’s low-carbon energy future in terms of job creation, economic growth and a fair transition to a greener economy.”

For those unable to attend the Conference, Policy Exchange are live streaming the event, which Hydrogen UK is sharing on its social channels, further amplifying the important hydrogen message.
