Hydrogen Utopia takes major step forward for Longford project.
Hydrogen Utopia International PLC (LSE:HUI, OTCQB:HUIPF) (HUI) told investors it has hired WS Atkins as planning and environmental consultant for its proposed waste plastic to hydrogen facility, in County Longford, Ireland.
Atkins has in turn subcontracted MKO, Ireland’s largest planning and environmental consultancy, to the project.
Together they will advise HUI and its Irish subsidiary Alister Future Technologies as it advances the Longford project, along with providing project management and design services as part of the planning application process.

These appointments are seen by HUI as a major step forward in the realisation of the Longford Project.
Aleksandra Binkowska, HUI chief executive said in a statement:
Ireland is a priority for HUI and I am delighted that we have gotten so far in such a short period of time.

The Atkins and MKO teams have successfully delivered some great renewable energy projects in Ireland and have access to a huge depth of technical resource and expertise.
“We are looking forward to working with them to deliver a successful project in Longford.”
HUI anticipates these work streams will cost around €100,000, meanwhile, it noted the potential for government support to projects like the Longford project. It highlighted that the Irish government has envisaged around €169mln of funding being rolled out in the Irish Midlands, supported by the EU’s ‘Just Transition’ fund in the coming years, and, that Longford, as a county impacted by the winding down of Ireland’s peat industry, may be among the prime beneficiaries.
