HyTerra Ltd has entered into a collaboration with research teams from Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology to study geologic hydrogen generation, migration and accumulation using data and samples from its Kansas operations. The academic teams, funded through the Chimaera Fund, will investigate hydrogen-bearing intervals, generation potential and rates in Mid-Continent Rift rocks, with findings to be published openly.
HyTerra will gain early and ongoing access to the universities’ data and analysis, allowing the company to integrate emerging insights with its own exploration, testing and laboratory results to refine technical models and prospect-ranking criteria. The collaboration is expected to strengthen HyTerra’s understanding of subsurface hydrogen systems, enhance its evaluation of opportunities in Kansas, and contribute to the broader industry’s technical knowledge as geologic hydrogen advances from exploration toward appraisal and potential commercial development.
