Iberdrola, through its UK subsidiary ScottishPower, has secured funding from the UK government for two green hydrogen projects, which will be the first industrial-scale green hydrogen plants in the country.
The hydrogen from both projects will be used to provide emission-free fuel for high-temperature industrial processes, such as whisky production, and to replace fossil fuels in heavy transport. After a possible two-year construction period, ScottishPower intends to start producing green hydrogen at both Whitelee and Cromarty.
