India – Ministry Of Steel With MNRE Issues RFP For Hydrogen Injection In Steel Production Under National Green Hydrogen Mission
A request for proposal (RFP) has been issued under the National Green Hydrogen Mission for the injection of hydrogen into existing blast furnaces and direct reduced iron (DRI) vertical shafts in the steel sector. This initiative, led by MECON Limited, is aimed at advancing the use of hydrogen to decarbonize steel production in India. The key dates for the RFP process include document downloads starting from October 7, 2024, at 18:30 IST, and ending on October 28, 2024, by 11:00 IST. The bid submission opens on October 16, 2024, and closes on October 28, 2024, at 11:00 IST, with the technical bid opening on October 29, 2024.
The RFP requires the submission of both a techno-commercial bid and a price bid. The bid must remain valid for 120 days from the opening date. Pre-bid queries can be submitted until October 15, 2024, with the final clarifications provided by the authorities shortly thereafter.
This project represents an important step in India’s push toward low-carbon steel production, with hydrogen set to play a key role in reducing reliance on coal and coke in steelmaking processes.
