Jilin Electric Power – 180,000-ton world’s largest single green ammonia project commences production
On July 26, with the first batch of green ammonia successfully dispatched from the site of the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Daan Wind and Solar Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Integrated Demonstration Project, Jilin Electric Power’s demonstration project, which produces 32,000 tons of green hydrogen and 180,000 tons of green ammonia annually, officially commenced production. The project utilizes the abundant wind and solar resources in western Jilin to generate green electricity, which is then used to produce green hydrogen through an electrolysis process. The green hydrogen is subsequently combined with nitrogen from the air to synthesize green ammonia under the influence of a catalyst, for widespread application in the chemical, transportation, and power sectors. A project official from Daan stated that the project innovatively applies a proprietary ‘electricity-hydrogen-chemical’ full-process flexible control system, addressing the challenge of matching the instability of wind and solar power generation with the stability required for ammonia production. This innovation paves the way for a replicable new industrial model for the local conversion of new energy. (Yicai)
