Kelington signs pact to jointly develop green hydrogen production hub in Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 10): Engineering firm Kelington Group Bhd (KL:KGB) said on Friday that it has signed an initial pact to jointly develop a two-megawatt green hydrogen production hub in Selangor.
The project will see hydrogen produced through electrolysis powered entirely by renewable energy from the Batang Kali small hydropower plant, Kelington said in a statement. The company will spearhead the development of the electrolyser plant and manage the hydrogen production.
Kelington chief executive officer Raymond Gan, said:

The cost and other details of the project were not disclosed.
The project comes at a time of rising momentum for hydrogen, with more than 1,000 hydrogen refuelling stations in operation, while around two gigawatts of electrolyser capacity has been installed. China accounts for nearly two-thirds of the global capacity.
India, Germany, Spain and Australia have also announced their own ambitions to pursue domestic hydrogen industry and projects.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Kelington’s wholly owned unit Ace Gases Sdn Bhd, Selangor state-linked company Worldwide Energy Development Sdn Bhd, and SKS Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd — a bus manufacturer now developing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
Under the pact, Ace Gases will also drive market and business development, while Worldwide Energy will provide land, renewable power, water and regulatory support. SKS will lead downstream efforts by rolling out fuel cell buses and building refuelling stations.
This MOU will remain in effect for two years, with the option to extend upon mutual agreement.
