Luxembourg – Chamber passes hydrogen law
The document creates a legal framework for the storage and transportation of hydrogen, in support of the European market of renewable energy.
This text represents a decisive step in the implementation of the hydrogen strategy adopted on 8 July 2021, demonstrating Luxembourg’s commitment to the energy transition and decarbonisation.
It aims to establish an initial legal framework for the planning, development, and operation of hydrogen transportation infrastructure in Luxembourg, while integrating interconnections with neighbouring countries. The law foresees the authorisation of at least one national transport operator.
The objective is to support a European market of renewable hydrogen, essential for addressing climate challenges and reducing energy dependence on fossil fuels.
