Luxfer Gas Cylinders earns recognition for outstanding innovation at national manufacturing awards – Hydrogen Storage
Second innovation award win in weeks for East Midlands hydrogen storage experts
Nottingham-based Luxfer Gas Cylinders has been honoured with a prestigious national award in recognition of its groundbreaking advancements in the design and manufacture of hydrogen technology.
The company – the world’s largest manufacturer of high-pressure composite and aluminium cylinders – was presented with the Product Innovation & Design Award at The Manufacturer MX Awards, which took place at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool on 27 November.
Luxfer Gas Cylinders received the award in recognition of its extensive and relentless efforts to develop new systems and infrastructure to transport hydrogen safely. This has involved significant seven figure investment in R&D across teams in the UK and North America in order take advantage of what is expected to be a substantial uptake in the use of hydrogen for clean energy in the future.

The Manufacturer MX Awards was established in 2015 and while it is the biggest annual celebration on the industry’s calendar, the awards are not just about the ceremony, but the culmination of a rigorous programme designed to provide valuable business improvement advice and feedback from an expert panel of judges. Organised by The Manufacturer in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), it is the only peer-reviewed and judged programme of its kind for UK manufacturing.

Luxfer Gas Cylinders also recently won the Innovation Award at the regional Make UK Manufacturing Awards and will go on to compete in the national finals against companies from around the UK in January 2025.
