Metacon signs EPC partner agreement with GISAB (Jernbro) in electrolysis.

The parties are formalising the previously communicated cooperation and will work exclusively with each other within the Nordic region.

Since autumn 2021, Metacon has its own business in the area of turnkey electrolysis plants to the growing green hydrogen market in cooperation with experienced partners and subcontractors.

As previously communicated, in connection with the sale of an electrolysis plant to Uppvidinge Vätgas, GISAB (Gällivare Industriservice AB, part of Jernbro) is Metacon’s partner for installation, commissioning and service (EPC). GISAB and Jernbro are the leading company in Sweden in industrial maintenance and projects.

After a period of mutual evaluation and analysis of the electrolysis market for green hydrogen, Metacon and GISAB/Jernbro have decided to formalise the collaboration and work exclusively with each other within the Nordic region. The parties will also cooperate on a case-by-case basis in other markets outside the Nordic region where possible.

Christer Wikner, President and CEO of Metacon.

We are very pleased to have entered into a partnership in the electrolysis field with one of the most experienced players in the market, which has now also grown stronger by becoming part of the Jernbro family.

“Through this agreement, an important piece of the puzzle falls into place as we get a long-term partner to be able to more powerfully drive sales of electrolysis plants.”  Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

Boris Lindberg, CEO, GISAB commented:

We are very pleased in the partnerships we have entered into with Metacon and look forward to a fruitful collaboration in the green industrial transition that is taking place in Sweden and Europe, Metacon, GISAB and Jernbro will together be a leading player in developing the electrolysis area.

About Metacon AB (publ)

Metacon AB (publ) develops and manufactures energy systems for the production of hydrogen, heat and electricity. The products are based on a patented technology that, through so called catalytic steam reforming of biogas or other hydrocarbons, generates hydrogen.

The development of Metacon’s reforming products is done within the wholly owned subsidiary Helbio, which is a spin-off from the University of Patra, Greece and was founded by Professor Xenophon Verykios in 2001.

From the onset, the business has focused on catalysts and advanced reforming for high-efficiency hydrogen production.

Metacon also offers system solutions for the production of hydrogen through electrolysis, a large and globally growing area for small and large-scale production of green hydrogen. Electrolysis is a process of starting and driving a chemical reaction to split water by adding electricity.

If the electricity used is non-fossil and green, the hydrogen will also become completely climate neutral and green. Green hydrogen can be used in, for example, the transport sector, the basic industry and the real estate sector with a better environment and climate as a result.
